All planned webinars with the project partner have been held
One of the project activities of the “Capabilities of a Smart Village” project was the organization of eight educational webinars through which Brundalen School staff will present examples of good practice and share their experiences in working with gifted students and in Lego League competitions to teachers and other educational staff of the “Mijat Stojanović” Elementary School. The Croatian school plans to participate in this competition next school year. The “Mijat Stojanović” Elementary School recognizes the importance of advancing STEM education and aims to empower its employees as one of the most important factors in the implementation and introduction of STEM into primary education through this project. The aforementioned webinars, along with the educational activities that employees have received, are a valuable tool that will improve the quality of work in this project-leading school.
The topic of the webinar held on January 30th, 2023 was “STEM in first and second grade”, and during the webinar, teachers Julie Geving and Brian Pettersen explained how they work with the youngest students to strengthen their STEM skills. Fourteen employees of the “Mijat Stojanović” Primary School attended the webinar.

A webinar on the topic of “Guided Reading” was held on February 28th, 2023, led by teacher Anne Silje Bern. She presented her approach to working with students in language classes. Fifteen employees of the “Mijat Stojanović” Primary School in Babina Greda attended the webinar.

The last two webinars were led by the principal of Brundalen School, Sten Frode Solvang. On April 18th, 2023, the topic of the seventh webinar was “Cultural Program at Brundalen Elementary School”, and fifteen employees of the “Mijat Stojanović” Primary School learned about the curricula for arts and cultural subjects taught at Brundalen School, the planned celebration of Brundalen School’s fiftieth anniversary, and a song currently being recorded by students in collaboration with music experts.

The last webinar was held on April 25th, 2023, and served as a summary of all other webinars, clarifying any remaining doubts and discussing topics related to the webinars. Eleven teachers from the “Mijat Stojanović” Primary School participated. Brundalen School’s principal was joined by his assistant, Tove Sivertsvik, on the webinar.

Through the held webinars, the teachers of the Elementary School “Mijat Stojanović” who did not have the opportunity to visit the Project Partner had the opportunity to get insight into the work of the Norwegian school, communicate with teachers, and firsthand learn how they approach topics that are of interest to them to introduce into regular teaching and extracurricular activities. This way, they gained valuable new knowledge, saw concrete examples from practice, and got new ideas that they can use in the classroom.
