Signing of the Grant Agreements

On May 27th, 2022, on the premises of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funding of Croatia, there was a ceremony in which the Grant Agreements within the framework of the Local Development and Poverty Reduction program were signed. The program is funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism Programme 2014-2021 and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.

The guests were greeted by Minister Nataša Tramišak, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in the Republic of Croatia H.E. Haakon Blankenborg, State Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Education Tomislav Paljak and Director of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Coordination of EU Funds Iva Novak. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the regional self-government, principals of primary schools and representatives of the Croatian Teachers’ Union.

Through the projects within the framework of the call “Improved Skills and Competencies of Teachers and Other Educational Workers in Primary Education”, there will be implemented activities aimed at improving skills and teaching methods and the development of primary school programs and curricula in the priority thematic areas of the program Local development and poverty reduction: STEM, information and communication technologies in education, entrepreneurship in skill development and better employment opportunities and active citizenship. The total value of the awarded contracts is 9.126.421,58 HRK (1.208.237,45 EUR), of which 85% is funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism and the remaining 15% is provided by the state budget.

The Grant Agreements were signed by the following institutions:
•    Callidus – institute for adult education, Zagreb
•    Elementary school “Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević”, Levanjska Varoš
•    Institution for the Development of Competence, Innovation and Specialisation of Zadar County INOVAcija, Zadar
•    Studium School – Adult Education Institution, Vukovar
•    Elementary school “Mijat Stojanović”, Babina Greda
•    Elementary school “Bogoslav Šulek”, Slavonski Brod
•    Cluster for eco-social innovation and development – CEDRA Split
•    Institute for Youth Development & Innovation, Zagreb

Selected projects recognized the importance of inclusive education and the development of special programs intended for students with special educational needs, both students with disabilities and gifted students. Project activities will take place throughout Croatia and will improve the teaching competencies of educational workers, enable effective teaching and learning, and ultimately contribute to the development of skills necessary for life in today’s world.
