Teaching using 3D models
Employees of the “Mijat Stojanović” Elementary School in Babina Greda, as part of the “Capabilities of a Smart Village” project, have completed another useful education organized by the Locus Association. The education “Teaching using 3D models” was intended for STEM teachers and elementary school teachers, and the goal was to learn how to use the 3D printers that the school already owns, how to convey what was learned to students, how to create simple models that can be used in teaching, and to get ideas on how to use this technology in a meaningful way.
Through the “Teaching using 3D models” education, which lasted 20 hours, 14 teachers and other education staff of the “Mijat Stojanović” Elementary School were trained in using Tinkercad and Blender, programs with which they can prepare 3D models for printing on 3D printers. Through a conversation with the education leader Adrijan Čačić, some teachers came up with ideas on how to incorporate 3D models and work in Tinkercad into their teaching. The school already owns two 3D printers, and through the “Capabilities of a Smart Village” project, 50 kg of filament will be purchased for them. That will be enough to achieve all current ideas, as well as many new ones that will arise through teaching with students.
3D printing is already shaking our age-old notions of what can and can’t be made.
